An interesting story about the BMW prototype hybrid engine that runs on both gasoline and liquid hydrogen. The car will be able to burn hydrogen fuel in an internal combustion engine, as opposed to using it to power a fuel cell. This allows the car to produce plenty of horsepower. But because it’ll be impossible to find a place to “fill-up” on hydrogen, this engine will not go into general production. They’re hoping to push technology and alternative fuels by making a few cars and getting them into the right hands.
