‘Studio 60’ song free for download

studio_60_on_the_sunset_strip.jpgOn the most recent Studio 60 (the Christmas episode,) a group of New Orleans musicians led by Troy “Trombone Shorty” Andrews played a new version of “Oh Holy Night” as part of the episode’s storyline. The story in the show was an important one. Displaced New Orleans musicians were looking to get jobs in LA, and Studio 60 gave them the stage. And that’s what really happened. The players really were New Orleans musicians needing a gig. Nice use of creativity and television. The song itself is now available for free download. This was a great arrangement and a must hear. The YouTube clip below shows how the performance appeared in the show.
